ROUTINE – The plot twist between you and your potential
It’s not just a dull buzzword — it’s your secret weapon
Each time we hear the term routine, we are reminded of some Bollywood film scene where the guru makes you wake up at 4 in the morning and jog 50 km.
Let’s be real – the term routine does have a sort of glamorous ring to it without coffee on a Monday morning or an adult form of “EAT YOUR VEGETABLES.” Even with our awareness that it’s healthy, though, we’d rather swipe reels or ‘accidentally’ watch another episode of our favorite show at 2 a.m.
The Twist: Routine Isn’t the Bad Guy
Routine doesn’t exist to intimidate you. It’s merely a life-hack GPS system in your life — something to steer you clear of:
- Last-minute anxiety
- That “I’ll get it done tomorrow” zone
- Ongoing feeling overwhelmed
It can be boring and limiting, but routine isn’t about a strict, mechanical calendar. It’s about establishing a predictable framework that allows you to concentrate on your daily responsibilities and rituals.
Routine vs. Discipline: Not the Same Thing
We’re usually led to think that schedule is a synonym for discipline — namely, something strict or severe.
When you first begin establishing a routine, you may:
- Experience inconsistency
- Feel frustration or laziness
- Think you’re not “built for it”
That places you in the frame of mind of “oh, maybe I won’t be able to do it, so let’s just go with the flow.” Yeah, maybe that way looks easier. But those habits, over time, can creepily set you apart from who you want to be.

What Routine Really Provides You
Let’s get real — routine will not make your life a Bollywood fairytale.
But it will provide you with the superpower to script your own success story.
By simply doing priorities, you can make random energy work lead to progress.
Here’s what a routine does for you:
- Creates consistency
- Makes self-confidence stronger
- Sets momentum for long-term goals
- Saves you from hidden disasters
- Prevents living in panic mode
It may be dull at times — but that “dull” routine is sometimes what keeps you out of chaos.
Start Small. Stick With It.
You do not have to be a billionaire or a supermodel overnight.
Just begin here:
- Choose one habit
- Do it every day
- Forgive yourself when you slip
- Stay kind to the process
Soon, you’ll know: The only thing more terrifying than schedule… is a life without one.
The Price of a Life Without Routine
Let’s face it – a life without schedule isn’t so much freedom and dun. More like living in a group project and everyone has no idea what they’re doing, even you, it’s a complete disaster.
Without a plan, everything is urgent, and nothing ever gets accomplished. You’re always attempting to get it all done and yet somehow still dropping the ball.
This is what you’re committing to when you abandon a schedule:
- Too many windows open in your head
- Horror movie villain-spawning deadlines
- A calendar that’s more puzzle than it needs to be
- Feeling constantly busy but getting nowhere.
No routine= high-functioning chaos. And believe me, establishing a target without with routine is time-wasting.
Customizing Your Routine: One Size Does Not Fit All
Schedules are not one-size-fits-all like clothes.
What wonders for other people may not feel right for you — and that’s perfectly fine. The point is to create a routine that suits your own energy, pace, and objectives, rather than someone else’s calendar.
Here’s how to you can create one for yourself:
- Identify your peak hours— Do you tend to be more energized in the morning or evening? Schedule your significant activities at times when your brain is most awake.
Begin where you are — You don’t need to completely overhaul your whole day at once. Start with tiny, doable steps that suit you.
- Keep it flexible — Life is uncertain. A great routine bends with you, providing room for adjustments without anxiety.
- Make it enjoyable — Add things you enjoy, such as your favorite music, a comfortable cup of coffee, or a soothing candle to create ambiance.
- Make it yours — Your routine must benefit your individual life, objectives, and personality—not another person’s perfect planner.
Bottom line: a habit that suits you is simpler to maintain and allows you to feel grounded and energized. So, create it carefully—it’s designed to work for you.
